The Young MacGregor score was composed for the drum corps of the Pride of Murray Pipe Band in London, by Dean J. Hall who was living in London at the time and guesting with the band for a 6 month period.

The leading drummer of the band at the time was Dave Budge and his godfather, Andy White, was the drummer on the Beatles first single “Love Me Do” while Ringo played Tamborine.
